1660 Super – Don’t know what Nvidia is trying to do

The year 2019 was good for Nvidia’s 16 series they did their job pretty well, 1650 was able to replace the 1050Ti and 1660 replaced the 1060 and the 1660Ti was able to perform in the range of 1070 and 1070Ti

But don’t know for what reason Nvidia has now a new graphics card in the market the Geforce GTX 1660 super and the surprising part is the specs.

Nvidia GTX 1660 Super General Specs

So let’s start with the specs, The Nvidia Geforce GTX 1660 Super based on TU106 architect has 1408 Cuda cores with a base clock of 1530 MHz and a boost frequency of 1785 MHz, which is same as that of the 1660 super, so where’s the difference, the difference lies in the memory segment, 1660 super has a memory data rate of 14 Gbps instead of the 8 Gbps on 1660 and 12 Gbps on the 1660ti, 6 GB GDDR6 VRAM capacity instead of the GDDR5 on 1660, a bus width of 192 bits which again is same as that of 1660, and memory bandwidth of 336 GB/s instead of the 192 GB/s.

But interesting thing is that The GTX 1660 Super cost around 2000 INR more than the GTX 1660 and around 5000 INR less than the GTX 1660Ti,
So if you chose to but the GTX 1660 Super instead of the GTX 1660 you are getting around 10-12% more performance at a price increase of 2000 INR, but if you chose to but It instead od the GTX 1660Ti then you are just around 6-7% less performance but saving around 5000 INR, so in a way, Nvidia killed its own product 1660 and 1660Ti by releasing the 1660 Super
