This Post is a Detailed Review of the Acer Swift 3 2020, AMD Variant. It also has an Intel Variant but, it is costlier and doenst proved the same performance, so most of the people are going to buy the Swift 3 AMD variant.

Design and Build Quality
Acer Swift 3 has a very basic design, the Acer logo on the Top, and vents on the bottom, and the design is minimalistic yet pleasing. The chassis is made of aluminum and is very sturdy. It has very little flex. The screen cant be opened with one finger if that is something that bothers you. Overall the design is very simple yet pleasing, and the build quality is excellent. You could say it has one of the best build quality in this price range.
Acer Swift 3 has a 14-inch FHD(1920X1080), IPS-LCD, LEDbacklit Display, with a screen to body ratio of ~83%, its typical 60Hz display, it has 38% RGB and 61% AdobeRGB, and has a max brightness of 260 nits.
For regular works, the display is good, but in direct sunlight, it may be challenging to use the screen. Also, it is not recommended for someone who is going to use it for Video/Photo editing, as the color accuracy is terrible on it. Other than the color accuracy, the screen is good to use.
Acer Swift 3 has many options for CPU, from both AMD and Intel, but here we are going with the AMD model, as it is much better than the intel variants.
In AMD in we have two options Ryzen 5 4500U or Ryzen 7 4700U, but the price difference between the both is only $20(~₹1400), so most people will buy the Ryzen 7 4700U variant.
Here also we will use the 4700U variant.
The Ryzen 7 4700U is 8-Core/8-Thread CPU with a base/boost clocks of 2.0/4.1 GHz.
The Processors is great, it is better any of the Intel’s current U-series offering, and can easily handle all the tasks thrown at it, whether it be multi-tasking or gaming.
It is recommended for up to mid-level multi-tasking like low-level CAD/CAM, low-level rendering, etc.
As for GPU, we have an Integrated GPU, the AMD Radeon Vega 7 GPU, and man, it’s great. The performance is not what is expected from an integrated GPU. It exceeds every expectation. You can play shooter games like CS: GO and get upto 100-120FPS easily, around 100 FPS in Valorant, 90FPS in Overwatch, and about 60 FPS in Doom Eternal.
An excellent option for casual gamers(Mostly Students).
The Thermals are excellent for a $650 device, and given the body, Acer could have used bigger fans for better thermals, so to get better performance, but now also it is excellent, the fans are a bit loud at max load, but is not something which will bother you.
Memory and Storage
We have only one option for memory that is 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM, and it cannot be upgraded, but it is enough for most of the people who are going to buy it.
As for Storage, you can get a Samsung 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD with the Ryzen 5 4500U variant and a 512GB with the Ryzen 7 4700U variant.
The SSD is crazy fast. Again it exceeds what is expected from an SSD, which is provided in this price range.
Acer Swift 3 has a 3-Cell 50-Wh battery; it is good. It can easily last for around 7-8 hours, but it would have been better if they had put a bigger battery, like 7-8 hours of battery is only as good as a day in school or office. Still, most of the people will need a bit more to call it a day, around 70-Wh, would have been excellent.
It has 65-W AC power adapter, and it also has fast charging support, you can charge it for 30 minutes and get around 4 hours of usage, which is impressive.
So if you have a charging point nearby, the battery life is great, and will easily last to call it a day at school for office.
Acer Swift 3 has the following Ports
1X USB Type-C
1X USB 3.0
1X USB 2.0
1X headphone/microphone combo.
The port selection is great, but it would have been if it also had an RJ 45 port.
Also, it doenst have a Thunderbolt 3 Port as it is exclusive to Intel Devices.
Keyboard and Trackpad
The keyboard is a standard backlit keyboard, and it doesn’t have a Numpad if that bothers you.
It feels good to type on. The key travel is also comfortable, but it is a bit compact, so it will take some to get used to it.
The Trackpad is made of plastic, but it feels good but not as good as the glass Trackpad on other similar types of laptops.
Acer Swift 3 has dual Bottom firing stereo speakers, and honestly, they perform excellently, they exceed what is expected from a $650 device, excellent Audio.
Acer Swift 3 has Windows hello Support, so you can unlock the laptop using your face, also it has a fingerprint sensor which is pretty fast and accurate.
It has WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0
Acer Swift 3 Pricing
Pricing is as Follows
Acer Swift 3 Ryzen 5 4500U: $630(~₹48,000)
Acer Swift 3 Ryzen 7 4700U: $650(~₹49,500)
The Ryzen 7 4700U is a much better option as you are getting much better performance double the Storage.
You Can buy the Swift 3 at Amazon, they give the Best price one can get on a genuine Swift 3 in India.
Acer Swift 3 is one of the best thin-and-light laptops one can buy under $1000 mark, the only bad thing about this laptop is the screen, and that too when you are looking from the perspective of a video or photo editor; for regular usage, the screen is just fine.
It is an excellent option for students and also one of the best budget laptops for students; it is also great for casual gamers.
But it is not recommended for those who wants to use it for Video or Photo Editing or any kind of work which requires good color accuracy. Then you should go for the Ideapad 5 14-inch, it is a bit costlier but has almost the same specs as the Acer Swift 3 and a better display.
