Apple MacBook Pro 13 – Obviously There are some Remarkable Upgrades, but are they worth it.
Apple has Unveiled the New MacBook Pro 13, or simply saying the MacBook Pro 13 2020, obviously due to being the newest model, it has some upgrade like the use of Magic Keyboard, instead of the much-hated Butterfly Keyboards, and having the base storage doubled.
But from a Newest Laptop one would expect it should have the Newest Processor, but that is not the case with the MacBook Pro 13, yes it is powered by the Intel 10th gen Processor but only in the Higher-end Models, the base and lower-end models are powered by the Intel 8th gen Processor, But it that thing such a big issue.
Let’s See.

Design

On the Design Front, there is nothing different from the old MacBook Pro’s it is that same good old design, the clean-looking back with the Apple Logo at the center, and Two Thunderbolt 3 ports at the side and a headphone jack on the other side or Four Thunderbolt 3 ports at the side and a headphone jack on the other side, depending on the model you buy.
Display

Opening the Lid we get to see the display the 2020 MacBook Pro 13 has a 13.3 inch (diagonal) LED-backlit display with IPS technology
2560-by-1600 native resolution at 227 pixels per inch with support for millions of colors, with a Max brightness of 500 nits.
Performance

The MacBook Pro 13 has 2 Processor options
1.4GHz quad‑core 8th‑generation Intel Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz with Intel Iris Plus Graphics 645
or
2.0GHz quad‑core 10th‑generation Intel Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz with Intel Iris Plus Graphics.
There is also an i7 model but as of now it is not available in india

So here is the thing, why is Apple using an almost 3-year-old 8th gen Processor for their Pro Product, The main reason behind it can be the fact that even if they used the 10th gen processor the CPU performance increase wouldn’t be significant.
Still, there will be an increase of up to 80% in GPU performance

But for most of the people buying a MacBook Pro GPU performance is not the main criteria, like, for Professional Bloggers, Coders, and the likes of that, they want the CPU Performance, but don’t necessarily pay any heed to the GPU performance.
Also if Apple used the 10th gen processor which could be used instead of the 8th gen processor used then the price would have been significantly higher, so the price to performance ratio of the Intel 8th gen is better than that of the Intel 10th gen processor, at least for the processors which were available for the lower-end models.
Memory and Storage

The MacBook Pro 13 has 2 Memory options
8GB of 2133MHz LPDDR3
or
16GB of 3733MHz LPDDR4X, There is also an option for 32GB RAM but as of now it is not available in india
And this time MacBook Pro 13 has twice the base variant storage and is also configurable Up to 1TB
256GB PCIe-based SSD for Base Variant
Configurable to 512GB or 1TB, in india you can get only upto 1TB but if you buy it internationally then it is configurable up to 4TB Storage
The LPDDR3 RAM is used in the 8th gen processor model, while the LPDDR4x RAM is used on the 10th gen processor model
Battery
MacBook Pro 13 has a Built‑in 58.2‑watt-hour lithium‑polymer battery
61W USB‑C Power Adapter

Pricing
The MacBook Pro 13 for the base Intel 8th Gen Processor with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at INR 1,22,990.
Intel 8th gen Core i5 8GB RAM/256GB Storage : INR 1,22,990
Intel 8th gen Core i5 8GB RAM/512GB Storage : INR 1,42,990
Intel 10th gen Core i5 16GB RAM/512GB Storage : INR 1,74,990
Intel 10th gen Core i5 16GB RAM/1TB Storage : INR 1,94,990
Conclusion
The MacBook Pro 13 is as always a great laptop, if we look at the Higher-end Models then it is a great option to go for, but for the Lower-end models, the 8th gen models, if you are someone like a Blogger, Coder, or someone like that then the 8th gen model is a great option for you, Also for most of the peoples out there it will be very difficult to see the difference between the LPDDR3 and LPDDDR4 RAM in normal usage, but if you want to do heavy tasks like video editing and other stuff then the 8th gen model is not a good choice.
On the other hand, if you want a laptop for heavy tasks like Video editing, and rendering then the 10th gen model is a great choice.
But if you looking to buy the top Model at INR 1,94,990 then why not spend INR 5000 more and buy the MacBook Pro 16, it is a much better laptop with a better processor, better GPU, bigger display, better battery life, and better audio.
Also if you look at the one priced at INR 1,74,990 then again you can get the MacBook Pro 16 at around that price in some offers during the festive season.
So before buying the 13-inch one, it would be better if you look up at the 16-inch one
Final Verdict(For this Post)
- Good CPU performance and Choice(Intel 8/10th Gen Processors)
- Great Display
- Great Build Quality
- Good Design
- Scissor/Magic Keyboard’s
- Good Battery Life(Advertised)
- Good Memory and Storage options
(Base 8/256GB Storage is pretty good) - Still, there is WiFi 5.0, it should have been better if it is WiFi 6.0
