Asus ROG Phone 5 – Full Review, The Spec King, Again.

So folks it’s time for the detailed review of the Asus ROG Phone 5, there is no ROG Phone 4, as the number 4 is considered unlucky in some parts of Asia, mainly China and neighboring regions, so most of the companies skip the number 4 and directly jump to 5 from 3. so we have the Asus ROG Phone 5, and if I had to complete the Review in just one sentence, then it would be: “Almost Everything one would want in their smartphone, pushed to its limits, with the only expectation of Cameras”.

So that’s done for the one-sentence summary seekers, but for those who want the full review, it’s down here.

Design and Build Quality

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Lets start with the design of the ROG Phone 5, just like every year ROG has been degrading the gamer aesthetics, and making the design more normal looking, but still looks amazing, on the back we have Dot Matrix LED which displays the ROG logo, and its looks awesome, then on the top left corner we the have a horizontal rectangular camera array housing a triple camera setup, the back is well protected by corning gorilla glass 3, on the front we have a pretty normal display with bezels, on the top housing the amazing speaker setup, front camera and other sensors, on the bottom we have the bezels housing the speakers.

The Build Quality is amazing, the frame is made of aluminum, and the back is protected by corning gorilla glass 3 and the front is protected by corning gorilla glass Victus(the best protection out there for a smartphone display), and the build is sturdy, but due to the internal arrangement of the cooling chamber, if enough pressure is put on the middle of the smartphone it can break into half, so be careful with that.

Display

Rating: 5 out of 5.

ROG Phone 5 probably has the best display on a gaming smartphone out there.
A 6.78” AMOLED Display with a native resolution of FHD+(1080 x 2448 pixels), an aspect ratio of 20:9 Aspect Ratio, pixel density of 395 PPI, the display is HDR10+ certified, with a refresh rate of 144Hz refresh rate, 300Hz touch sampling rate, amazingly low touch latency, eye care certified and finally is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus
The Display is much brighter as compared to older ROG phones, with a typical brightness of 800nits, and peak brightness of 1200nits, which is pretty amazing.

Performance

Rating: 5 out of 5.

The ROG Phone 5 is powered by the most powerful Android SoC out there, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888.
Its an Octa-core SoC with 1×2.84 GHz Kryo 680 & 3×2.42 GHz Kryo 680 & 4×1.80 GHz Kryo 680 cores, and is coupled with Adreno 660 GPU.
As we have already seen its performance in smartphones like S21 ultra and Mi 11, there is nothing much to say, other than that, that its the best android SoC out there, but with the optimization of the ROG Phone 5, and with the active cooling, the performance is even better, ROG Phone 5 posted the highest Antutu benchmark score for an Android smartphone.
