Google Pixel 5 – Not a Hardware Flagship, But a Software Flagship, Excellent Smartphone.

So Folks the Google Pixel 5 is here, and surprisingly, hardware-wise it’s not a Flagship, as the main criteria for a flagship is that to have a flagship processor, but the Pixel 5 doesn’t have that, but still its the flagship from Google, and in certain terms it’s truly is a flagship(Spoiler Alert.
: Excluding SoC its a Full Fledge Flagship 😅😅)

Here is a Detailed Review of the Google Pixel 5, the 2020 Flagship From Google.

Specification Details

Design and Build Quality.

Pixel 5’s design is very similar to that of the Pixel 4 at least from the back, we have the same clean look, and a square camera module at the top left corner, the edged are curved, and just like any other pixel smartphone the Power button is textured to look different, but the biggest difference is the Physical fingerprint on the back of Pixel 5, which was not there on the 4, and from the front, we have a whole different look, now we have a punch-hole display, with the punch-hole cut out being in the top left corner.

The Build Quality is excellent, the back and frame are made of aluminum, but the back is coated with a soft-touch plastic coating, and the front is protected by corning gorilla glass 6.

Tthe Phone feels comrtable in the hand, and is very compact.

Pixel 5 has a 6-inch OLED Display, with ~88% Screen to Body Ratio, a native 1080X2340 Pixels Resolution, a 19.5:9 Aspect Ratio, with 432 PPI Pixel Density, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6, and has a 90Hz Refresh Rate panel, and supports HDR10+ content.

Yes, it’s not the best flagship display out there, but it’s the best display on a Pixel Out there and is also very good, most of the people out there will surely love it.

The Pixel 5 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G, it’s not a flagship SoC, but an upper-midrange SoC, its an Octa-core SoC with 1×2.4 GHz Kryo 475 Prime & 1×2.2 GHz Kryo 475 Gold & 6×1.8 GHz Kryo 475 Silver and is coupled with Adreno 620 GPU.

The SoC may not be the very best out there, but with google software optimization and only a 90Hz display to push, it offers an almost flagship-level experience in day to day usage and also performs well in heavy games.

Memory and Storage

Pixel 5 only has only memory and storage option, 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and 128GB of UFS2.1 Storage.

It offers an excellent multi-tasking experience, with 8GB of RAM and Google Software optimization, it’s almost a beast.

Pixel 5 has a Dual Camera setup.
12.2 MP, f/1.7(Wide Lens) dual pixel PDAF, OIS
16 MP, f/2.2(Ultrawide Lens)

Video Recording Options Include
[email protected]/60fps, [email protected]/60/120/240fps

For Selfies, it has an 8 MP, f/2.0(Wide Lens)

Simply speaking shots from the pixel 5, are the best pics out there from any other android smartphone, at least while taking normal daylight or normal night light shots, and the same is true for the Ultrawide and Selfie Shots.
But the Pixel 5 still uses the same sensor from the older generation precisely the same sensor used on the Pixel 2, the excellent shots are due to the software optimization from Google, and the difference between the old sensor and the new sensor can be seen when taking shots like low light/ night light portrait shots, the artificial software blur on the Pixel 5 looks crapy as compared to the natural blur on any other flagship smartphones, like Galaxy S20 series.

And in certain conditions like low light or so on, the images may take a bit of time to process, as now there is no dedicated Image processor on the Snapdragon 765G, but trust me the wait is worth it.

Pixel 5 has a 4080mAh battery with 18-W fast charging support.
And the Battery performance is excellent, with 765G+Google Software Optimization+90Hz Display, no matter what type of user you are you won’t be able to kill this smartphone in one day, and if you are a normal user it will easily last for around 2 days.

Pixel 5 has a Stereo Speaker Setup, and it is great but not the best, and also due to the fact that it doesn’t have any speaker on the top of the smartphone, the Stereo experience is not excellent.

Pixel 5 has a Physical Finger Print Sensor, which can also act as a double for notification slider, it’s an excellent one, it’s fast, responsive, and secure,

Stock Android 10, no Bloatware no extra apps, only the essential apps from google, excellent for most of the people out there, I just love it.

Google Pixel 5 Pricing

Pixel 5 is priced at $699, at that price it may seem a bit costly, but if I am not wrong then it will surely be available at $599 at the sale, there is no information of releasing in India.

So the Google Pixel 5 has an Excellent Design and Build Quality, Great Display, One of the best Camera setup out there, and arguably the best shots in normal day/night conditions from any other android smartphone out there, excellent battery life, ample amount of memory and storage, great audio, excellent Security, Stock Android, 5G, IPX8 Rated, Minimum 3 years of OS and security updates and a great Upper-Mid Range SoC, so if exclude the SoC then its a Flagship, and even with the SoC it still is a flagship-grade Smartphone, competing with the likes of iPhone 12 Pro, S20 Ultra, OnePlus 8 Pro and so, and that too at $699, which will surely be $599 on sales, so its an excellent device.
