Design and Build Quality

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Just like any other upper-mid range gaming laptop, the HP Omen 15 is a bit on the chunkier side, but is still slimmer than most of the gaming laptops, on the top we have the diamond Omen logo. The body has a metallic build to it.
The Desing is very simple, on the top with the Diamon Omen logo, and the bottom is full of vents, the build quality is excellent, the body is made of metal, and the keyboard also has a metallic finish to it.

Display

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

HP Omen 15(Intel)

On the Intel Vraint of the Omen 15, we get a 15.6-inch FHD(1920X1080) IPS-LCD, WLEDbacklit Display, with a 300 Hz refresh rate, up to 300 nits of brightness, and a 72% NTSC, it has a screen to body ratio of ~80%.

The Display is great, you can also choose a higher variant of the display which is 4K 120Hz but for gaming purposes, the Base 1080P, 120Hz one is pretty good, also there is the 300Hz display which is excellent for gaming.

HP Omen 15(AMD Ryzen)

The AMD Variant is almost the same as that of the Intel variant the only difference is that of the refresh rate of the display, on the AMD variant we get a 15.6-inch FHD(1920X1080) IPS-LCD, WLEDbacklit Display, with 144 Hz refresh rate, up to 300 nits of brightness, and a 72% NTSC, it has a screen to body ratio of ~80%.

Here also we have a option of 1080P, 120Hz, but no option of 4K or 300Hz panel.

Performance

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

HP Omen 15(Intel)

CPU

HP Omen 15 2020

Omen 15(Intel) can be configured up to Intel Core i7-10750H, a 6-core CPU with a base/boost clock of 2.6/5 GHz.
This processor is great for gaming, but if content creation is taken into consideration, then there are better processors out there, also if you are into content creation then it’s better to go for the AMD variant as it is much better than the Intel variant in terms of content creation.

GPU

You can get up to Nvidia Geforce RTX 2070 Super Max-Q for the Intel variant. and as said before its great for gaming.

The Options are
Intel Core i5-10300H + Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650
Intel Core i5-10300H + Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650Ti
Intel Core i5-10300H + Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660Ti

CPU

HP Omen 15 AMD

Omen 15(AMD Ryzen) can be configure up to AMD Ryzen 7 4800H, an 8-core CPU, with a base/boost clock of 2.9/4.3 GHz.
This processor is great for content creation, CAD/CAM, rendering and other similar types of works, and is also able to play all the heavy titles at the high setting. Still, you will get around 5-10 FPS more in the Intel variant, due to the intel variant being clocked higher.

GPU

GPU can be configured up to Nvidia GTX 1660ti.
It is a pretty great GPU, also you can play almost all the AAA titles at the high setting with pretty good FPS, but if are seriously into gaming then the Intel variant is a better option.

The Options Are
AMD Ryzen 7 4800H + Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660Ti.

Thermals

Rating: 5 out of 5.
HP Omen 15 - The Best Omen 15 as of Now, Full Review. 14
HP Omen 15 - The Best Omen 15 as of Now, Full Review. 15

HP claims that the new Omen 15 will have 25 percent larger fans and 16 percent larger exhaust grilles for 62 percent higher airflow than on the last generation model.

And the Claims are true, even with the Highest end vraint the Intel Core i7-10750H+RTX 2070 Max-Q the thermal performance was great, the temperatures were under control, and fins noice was not a bother.
the onyl flas can be that even at idle the fans are now completelt silent.

Memory and Storage

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Both the Omen 15, the Intel and AMD variants have a similar type of RAM amount, but the RAM frequency is different
We have 16 GB DDR4-2933 SDRAM (2 x 8 GB) for the Intel variant
And
16 GB DDR4-3200 SDRAM (2 x 8 GB) for the AMD variant.

It’s great from HP to use this configuration as the performance of Intel chips are not dependent on RAM frequency but, the performance of AMD chips are dependent on RAM frequency.

Both the variants can be configured up to 1 TB of PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD

Battery

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Both the variant of the Omen 15 have the same battery and power brick,
a 6-cell, 70.9 Wh Li-ion polymer battery, with a 200 W Smart AC power adapter.

You can easily get around 4-4.5 hours of battery life with the 1080P panel or aorund 3 hours of battery life with the 4K panel.

AMD variant doesn’t have Thunderbolt 3, due to it being exclusive to the Intel(They have a patent for it).

Keyboard and Trackpad

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Both the Omen 15 variant has the same type of keyboard and trackpad. The keyboard is a full-size type, meaning it has the Numpad on it.

The Keyborad is excellent, it is one of the best, if not the best keyboard on a gaming laptop, and is very close to a standard desktop keyborad experience.

Audio

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Audio by Bang & Olufsen with dual speakers.
The Audio is above average at beat, just like any other gaming laptop.

HP Omen 15 Pricing

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Both the Intel and AMD versions of the Omen 15 are now shipping for a starting price of $999 each( in the US).
No information about release date and pricing in India, but HP a pretty good track record of releasing a laptop in India, but as of now we will have to wait for it

Ryzen 7 4800H

Conclusion

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

The HP Omen 15 2020 is the biggest refresh in the Omen series as of now. Also, it’s excellent from HP that they let choose the consumers between the Intel and AMD Chips.
Even though the AMD variant has a lot lesser refresh rate at 144Hz as compared to 300Hz on the Intel variant, I think its right as the AMD variant is more suited of content creation, CAD/CAM and similar type of work which does not require high refresh rate, while the sole purpose of the intel variant is gaming.
Also, the thermals are excellent, it has one of the best thermal systems, in this price range.

It has many options, But if you ask me then the AMD variant has the best price to performance ratio, also the base Core i5 variant also has a pretty good price to performance ratio, then the Core i7+ GTX 1650, Also the Core i7 + RTX 2070 is pretty good, and it is very rare to see RTX 2070 at this price range.
