The 11th gen Rocket Lake Chip from Intel, in the form of Intel Core i7-11700K, has been spotted on the Geekbench 5.3, in two separate tests, recording high scores in single-core tests, showing substantial improvement over the previous-gen and even beating the current single-core champion the Ryzen 9 5950X.
Intel Core i7-11700K
Core i7-11700K uses 8-Cores and 16 threads and has clock rates that go from 3.6GHz to 5.0GHz. Both the tests samples from geekbench 5.3 uses the same hardware, a Z490 Aorus Master board and 32GB of RAM.
The i7-11700K pulled out single-core scores of 1,807 and 1,810 points and multi-core results of 10,673 and 11,304 points.
It’s an excellent performance by the Core i7-11700K, previously the maximum record was by the 10-core 20-threaded i9-10900K at 1449 Points in single-core and 11414 points in multi-core, the single-core result for the intel core i7-11700K is around 25% better than the Core i9-10900K, which is excellent.
As for the comparison with the Ryzen 5000 series, the Core i7-11700K is around 9% faster than the Ryzen 7 5800X and around 7.5% than the Ryzen 9 5950X, while it’s also true that intel has always been stronger in the single-core test if we look at the previous margins, this time a gap is very less between the Ryzen and Intel.
Surely i7-11700K defeated the Ryzen 5000 series in Single core tests, but its a whole together different story in multi-core tests and power draw comparison, the Ryzen 7 5800X is just around 1-2% faster in the multi-core test but draws less than 60% of the power as compared to the Core i7-11700K, and as for Ryzen 9 5950X it’s 50% faster in multi-core score but it’s a 16-core processor so there is no comparison here.
