MediaTek Dimensity 1000, Saviour Of Mediatek?
The past few years were very bad for the MediaTek, as it was badly loosing to the Qualcomm, in almost every price segment the only good success they got was this year in the upper-midrange series where the Helio G90T defeated the Snapdragon 730G by a huge margin, and also MediaTek was not launching any flagship for the past few years, but 2020 is going to be change year, the First MediaTek Flagship is here, With integrated 5G
The MediaTek Dimensity 1000, Code Named MT 6889
So let’s start with the General Specs, The Dimensity 1000 is an octa-core processor with dual cluster, having 4X High-Performance Cortex A-77 clocked at 2.6 GHz, and 4X High-Efficiency Cortex A-55 Clocked at 2.0 GHz, based on 7 nm process and 64 Bit architect with the Arm Mali-G77 9 core GPU
And For AI Processing, The MediaTek APU 3.0 that houses six AI processors consisting of two big cores, three small cores, and a single tiny core, MediaTek claims that APU 3.0 is 2.5X faster than the APU 2.0.
The Dimensity 1000 Supports up to 16 GB of LPDDR4X memory and is capable of supporting UFS 2.1 Storage
MediaTek Dimensity 1000 Connectivity
Connectivity options include :
- Wi-Fi 6 with 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz spectral bands
- Bluetooth version 5.1+
- NFC supported
- USB 3.1 and Type c supported
- It has an Helio M70 5G Modem and can support 5G, Dual Standby, and, according to MediaTek, has a 4.7Gbps downlink and 2.5Gbps uplink speeds over sub-6GHz networks and full 5G SA/NSA and whole 2G-5G support
17 The Dimensity 1000 will be the first Soc in the world to support 5G Dual Standby, integrating it into the same silicon as the rest of the processing elements gives the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 a distinct advantage in power efficiency – up to 49% lower power consumption
Dimensity 1000 Supported Optics and display
Now Toward’s the Supported optics
The Dimensity 1000 Uses the world First 5 core ISP(Image Signal processor), with 3 big and 2 small design capable of up to 80 MP on a single camera at 24 frames per second and up to 32+16MP on dual camera, and can record at a max resolution of 3840 x 2160P, and AI Features like Advanced AI-camera enhancements for autofocus, multi-frame video HDR capability, auto exposure, auto white balance, noise reduction, high-dynamic-range (HDR) and facial detection.
Now towards the supported display
The Dimensity 1000 can support Full HD+ displays up to 120Hz and 2K+ up to 90Hz.
Video encoding and decoding at 4K @60Hz(meaning support’s Google AV1 format up to 4K resolution at 60fps), no news on HDR 10 Content support
For Security, it has
Biometric Authentication (Fingerprint, Iris, Voice, Face)
Dimensity 1000 Benchmarks
Now on to the benchmarks, in Antutu the Dimensity 1000 was able to beat the Snapdragon 855+ but was behind the iPhone 11 Pro Max, by a considerable margin
In GeekBench 4.1 Dimensity was behind the Snapdragon 865 and 11 Pro Max in multi-core score but was ahead of only one plus 7T pro( 855+) in the single-core score, however, all these are test benchmarks and actual performance may vary, Snapdragon 865 Full review here https://dreview.tech/qualcomms-snapdragon-865/
