Moto G9 – A Big Disappointment
Moto G9 is here.
The Moto G series has always been one of the better performing smartphones in the under ₹15,000 segment, Even my first smartphone during my college was the Moto G5 Plus, and I loved it, The Moto G series up until this point was a series I could easily recommend without any worries, but that changed with the Moto G9, it is kind of a downgrade from the Moto G8, Moto G9 with its specs and the price it has is a Huge Disappointment.
Here is the Detailed Specification Overview of the Moto G9.

Design and Build Quality
Design-wise its step down from the previous Moto G8, now we have the Water Drop notch on the front and a square camera module on the top-center at the back, with a fingerprint sensor below the camera module.
Now coming on to the build quality, The Moto G5 Plus, had a metallic back, Moto G6, G7 and G8 have a Glass back, and now we have a Plastic back on the G9, an utter disappoint, it has a plastic back, and a plastic frame, also there is information on the Screen protection.
Display
Moto G9 has a 6.5-inch IPS TFT LCD Display, a ~82% Screen to Body Ratio.
720 x 1600(HD) Pixels Resolution, a 20:9 Aspect Ratio, and a 269 PPI Pixel Density, there is no information on the Screen protection, also The Moto G7 had an FHD+ display then Moto G8 had an FHD display, and now we have an HD display, I just don’t know what moto is trying to do.
Performance
Moto G9 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662
an Octa-core SoC with 8×2.0 GHz Kryo 260 cores coupled with Adreno 610 GPU.
Just for the reference, the Moto G8 was powered by the Snapdragon 665, there almost no difference between the 662 and 665, so nothing much to say.
Memory and Storage
Moto G9 has only one memory and storage option, 4GB RAM, and 64GB Storage.
Optics
Optics are the biggest let down in Moto G9.
It has a Triple Camera setup.
48 MP, f/1.7, (Wide Lens)
2 MP, f/2.4, (Macro Lens)
2 MP, f/2.4, (Depth Sensor)
There is no ultrawide and both the 2MPs’ macro and depth sensors are just waste, it would have been better if it had a dual-camera setup with the main camera and an ultrawide lens.
For Selfies, it has an 8 MP, f/2.2.
Battery
The battery is one of the better things about the Moto G9.
It has a 5000mAh battery with 20W fast charging.
Audio
It has a single bottom firing speaker.
Security
It has a Physical Fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone and also has face-unlock options.
User-Interface
Moto G9 offers, A pure Stock Android experience with no bloatware and some preinstalled moto apps which are useful.
It is running on Android 10.0
Moto G9 Pricing
Moto G9 is Priced at ₹ 11,499, you can buy it at Flipkart.
Conclusion
Moto G9 is going to be the first smartphone in the Moto G series which I won’t be able to recommend freely, or even recommend it.
Ther are much better options in this price range, like the Redmi Note 9, Realme 5i, and so on, so its better to go for those.
