A Few days ago Nvidia unveiled their RTX 3000 series line-up, with three new cards, the RTX 3070 successor to the RTX 2070, RTX 3080 successor to the RTX 2080, and RTX 3090 a new chip, which is said by Nvidia that it can play games at 8K 60FPS, Amazing isn’t it.
But the main point of this post is the RTX 3080, It can be said to be the most powerful GPU for gaming, as the RTX 3090 is simply not for gaming, it’s for more intensive task and also at around $1500, there are very few gamers who can afford it, But the 3080 at $699 is an affordable GPU for most of the Pro Gamers out there.

The RTX 3080 is an Ampere based GPU, it has 8704 Cuda Cores with a Base/Boost Clock of 1440/1710 MHz, 136 RT Cores, and 544 Tensor Cores. It has 10GB of GDDR6 VRAM with 14Gbps Data transfer Rate, a 320 Bit Bus Interface with a Bandwidth of 762 GBps, the TDP is rated at 320W, and the recommended Power Supply is of 750W.
Just for comparison the 3080 has double the Cuda cores than that of the 2080Ti, and 183% more Cuda cores than the 2080 Super, and it is priced at $699, as compared to the almost $1000 for the 2080Ti and $699 for the 2080 Super, so in terms of GPU performance, the 3080 is way ahead of its predecessor and the previous year’s flagship GPU’s.
Obviously, Cuda cores are not the only things which have increased, now we have 10GB of GDD6 VRAM, which is more than 2080 super but a tad bit less than the 2080Ti, but it has a much larger Memory Bandwidth at 762GBps.
The Biggest issue with the RTX 3080 is that it needs lots of power, its TDP is rated at 320W, and the recommended power supply is 750W, which by no means is a small number.

Here again, the 3080 is at the top, its 28% faster than the RTX 2080Ti, and 70% faster than the vanilla 2080.
Gears(4K, Highest Settings)
Again the 3080 is at the top, its 24% faster than the RTX 2080Ti, and 56% faster than the vanilla 2080.

The 3080 is at the top, its 30% faster than the RTX 2080Ti, and 67% faster than the vanilla 2080.

The RTX 3080, is at the top of the Gaming GPU’s,(obviously excluding the RTX 3090, but that cant be categorized a Gaming GPU), If you want more details in your gameplay, then you play at 4K, with you FPS being more at 60, in almost all the games out there, if you want more FPS, then switch to 1440P, and here you have more than 100 FPS, in almost all the games out there.
And given at RTX 3090 is priced at around $1500, at $699 RTX 3080 is an excellent choice for Pro Gamers.
