Design and Build Quality

Rating: 5 out of 5.

The OnePlus 8, has a Glass Back with an Aluminium Frame, the back is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, on the back, it is clean with just the camera module supporting the triple camera setup, and one plus branding at the bottom, on the front we have the display with speakers on the top and a punch-hole camera at the top left corner.
The Display is Curved which may lead to accident touches(rarely), other than that there is nothing bad about it, it feels amazing to hold, and has a premium feel to it.

Display

Rating: 4 out of 5.
oneplus 8

The OnePlus 8 has a 6.55-inch Fluid AMOLED Display, with a native resolution of 1080X2400(FHD+) Pixels, an aspect ratio of 20:9, Pixel Density of 402PPI, and a Screen to body ratio of ~89%, the display is protected by
Corning Gorilla Glass, and has support for HDR 10+ content, and 90Hz Refresh Rate.
The Display is Amazing, as its an AMOLED, it has great colors, and viewing angles, also the 90Hz Refresh rate Experience is great.

Performance

Rating: 5 out of 5.
OnePlus 8 - Review, Great Smartphone But has its own Price to Pay 14

OnePlus 8 is powered by the 2020 Flagship SoC from Qualcomm the Snapdragon 865, it is an Octa-Core Soc with 1×2.84 GHz Kryo 585 & 3×2.42 GHz Kryo 585 & 4×1.8 GHz Kryo 585 cores and is coupled with Adreno 650 GPU.
This is one of the most powerful SoC, available as of now, as it has posted the Highest Antutu Score as of now for a Smartphone, so Performance is not an issue on this phone, it can handle everything from day to day task to extreme high-level gaming with ease.

Memory and Storage

Rating: 4 out of 5.

OnePlus 8 has 3 Options, 6/128GB 8/128GB, 12/256GB Storage, the RAM is LPDDR4X and the Storage is UFS3.0, The 6GB Version is only for some countries like India and is not available internationally
The Storage is Great, but it would have been better if it had LPDDR5 RAM, overall the Multitasking Experience is great on this phone.

Camera/Optics

Rating: 4 out of 5.
OnePlus 8 - Review, Great Smartphone But has its own Price to Pay 15

OnePlus 8 has a Triple Camera Setup
48 MP, f/1.8(Wide Lens) OIS, PDAF+CAF {Sony IMX586}
16 MP, f/2.2(Ultrawide Lens)
2 MP, f/2.4(Macro Lens)

OnePlus 8 has a well-balanced Camera setup, with all the sensors which are mostly used in day to day usage, But if we compare it with the One Plus 7T then it is kind of a downgrade as One Plus 7T has the same 48MP sensor and the same 16MP ultrawide lens but has a much needed 12MP telephoto lens. The One Plus 8 Does have the Telephoto option in the camera app, but it just digitally 2X zoom the photo.

The Shots from the main camera is very good, obviously better than the One Plus 7T, but not of flagship-grade, the ultrawide shots to have the same situation, But the Macro Shots are just above average, mostly coming in the average category.
The One Plus 7T had a much Better overall camera setup

Video Recording options include 2160P @30/60FPS, 1080P @30/60/240FPS
Video Quality is Very good, but not of a flagship-grade
For Selfies, we have a 16MP{Sony IMX471} selfie camera, yes selfies are of flagship-grade, at least…

The Fingerprint sensor is pretty fast and accurate, and the Face-Unlock is also very fast and accurate.

It has support for 5G, WiFi 6. Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC.
It Doesn’t have any IP Rating

Pricing

Rating: 4 out of 5.

OnePlus 8 is priced at $699(~50000INR) for the 8/128GB model and $799(56000INR) for the 12/256GB Model. These are international pricing, but in India the prices are different.
6GB RAM+128GB Storage(Indian Only version) – 41,999 INR
8GB RAM+128GB Storage – 44,999 INR
12GB RAM+256GB Storage – 49,999 INR

Conclusion

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

OnePlus 8 is a Great Smartphone, it has the best SoC out there, one of the best build quality and design, one of the best battery life, One of the Best Audio setup, and we all know about the OxygenOS, however, the Camera performance is not upto the mark, it is not something that can’t be fixed with software updates and in just weeks of releasing the phone one plus has sent around 3-4 software updates, so overall it should be good to go with it, unless and until you want a camera oriented phone then you should look for some other phone.

But is it worth the price at $699 for the base version, you can get an iPhone 11 at somewhere around this price point, you can get Samsung Galaxy S20+ which is just a tad bit costlier you can also get the older Samsung phones like S10, S10e, Note 10 Etc at a lower price point,
The Price Should have been less internationally.

But If we go by the Indian Pricing, then also the above written remains same but the pricing changes at INR 41,999 for the indian base version and INR44,999 for the global base version, it is great choice to look at

Also For those who are confused at which one to buy then you can look at OnePlus 8 vs One Plus 7T

Final Verdict

  • One of The Best CPU/GPU(Best For Android)
  • Great Camera Setup
    {The Main Camera is Better than One Plus 7T, But it lacks the Telephoto lens, Overall the One Plus 7T had a tad bit better camera Setup.}
  • Great Build Quality
  • Great Display
  • 90 Hz Display
  • Great Battery life
  • UFS 3.0 Storage
  • Stereo Speakers.
  • WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC Support
  • 5G
  • In-display fingerprint sensor
  • A bit Over Priced( As Compared to the One Plus 7T)
  • No IP Rating
