CPU

When the Snapdragon 845 is compared to the Snapdragon 865/855/855+ one huge difference is the Manufacturing process,
the 845 was based on 10 nm process while the 855 onwards are based on 7nm process, that is one of the main reasons there was such a performance increase when upgrading from 845 to 855, but both the 865 and 855 are based on same 7nm process technology, so there is not much of a performance increase.
Also, the Efficiency cores remain the same in all the chipset’s but in performance cores there are changes, the 845 was based on ARM 75, 855 was based on ARM 76, 865 is based on ARM 77.

GPU

In very simple terms
Adreno 650>Adreno640>Adreno630,
also, there are several features like VR playback, 8k 360 VR playback from Adreno 640 Onwards Plus there is an option of updating the GPU drivers through play store in Adreno 650 GPU.

AI

The latest Qualcomm Hexagon 698 is capable of up to 15 TOP/s and is about 4 times better than its predecessors while still having 35% better efficiency.

ISP/Camera

Qualcomm Spectra 280 (Snapdragon 845) is capable of Up to 16 MP on Dual Camera
Up to 32 MP on Single Camera, MFNR
Slow Motion Video: 720p @ 480 FPS
HDR10, HLG, HEVC.
Qualcomm Spectra 380 (Snapdragon 855) is capable of Up to 22 MP on Dual Camera
Up to 48 MP on Single Camera, MFNR
Slow Motion Video: 720p @ 480 FPS
HDR10, HLG, HEVC.
Qualcomm Spectra 480(Snapdragon 865) is capable of Up to 25 MP on Dual Camera
Up to 64 MP on Single Camera, MFNR
Slow Motion Video: 720p @ 960 FPS
Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, HEVC.

Like Always there is a Regular MegaPixel Count increase in upgrades, but in Spectra 480(Snapdragon 865), there is an option of recording HDR10+ content and Capturing unlimited slow-motion videos at [email protected].

Memory

The Snapdragon 865 supports Up to LPDDR5(4X16bit) @2750 MHz.
The Snapdragon 855 Supports Up to LPDDR4X(4X16bit) @2133 MHz.
The Snapdragon 845 Supports Up to LPDDR4X(Dual Channel) @1866 MHz.
From 845 to 865 there are huge upgrades like Dual channel memory to 4X16 bit LPDDR4X to LPDDR5 and frequency increase is almost 50%.

Display

In terms of 4K UHD display, there is not much improvement as from 845 to 865 it still supports it at 60Hz only
but in the Snapdragon 865, it can support QHD+ resolution at 144Hz which is something great.

Modem

None of these flagships has an integrated 5G Modem, but the Snapdragon 855 and 865 has an option of 5G manufacturer can choose to put the 5G modem in it, in snapdragon 855 most of the manufacturers choose not to put the 5G modem in the Smartphone,
but in the case of Snapdragon 865, it is expected that almost all the manufacturers put the 5G modem in it.
But Even if it comes with 5G, in India the chances of getting 5G in upcoming years is very less, but With the 5G modem, the LTE Speed has also increased From Download/Upload: Up to 1.2Gbps/150Mbps in Snapdragon 845 to Download/Upload: Up to 7.4Gbps/3Gbps in Snapdragon 865.

Connectivity

All of these Chipsets support the Wifi 6 with 2.4/5/60 GHz spectral bands.
And the Snapdragon 845/855 supports Bluetooth version 5.0 while the Snapdragon 865 has Bluetooth version 5.1.
Snapdragon 845 on Wifi Peak speed: 867 Mbps.
Snapdragon 855/865 on Wifi Peak speed: 10Gbps
.

Benchmarks

The Antutu Scores for Snapdragon 865 is still not available, but the Geekbench scores are here
so here is the comparison.

Conclusion

If You are not a fan of 5G then upgrading from Snapadrgon 855+ to 865 is not a great option, because performance-wise there is not much of a difference
but if you are using a phone with Snapdragon 845 then upgrading to 865 will be a great option
