CPU(Snapdragon 888 vs Snapdragon 865)
Starting with the Snapdragon 888, it has a 1+3+4 Core structure, with the Prime core being the new ARM Cortex-X1 Core, a new type of ARM-based core, If you are unaware, ARM designed a new high-performing CPU core called Cortex-X1 to compete against Apple’s A-series chips, Qualcomm is the first chipmaker to implement this design on their mobile SoC.
The 1X Prime Core(Cortex-X1) is clocked at 2.84GHz.
3X Performance Cores(Cortex-A78) are clocked at 2.4GHz.
4X Effeciency Cores(Cortex-A55) are clocked at 1.8GHz.
The Cortex-A78 is also a new addition to the lot, but the Cortex-A55 is now three years old, and it’s very disappointing to See Qualcomm still using it.
Just like the Snapdragon 888 it also has a 1+3+4 Core structure, but unlike the 888, Snapdragon 865, uses the same Cortex-A77 as the Performance cores and Prime Core, the Prime Core is just clocked higher.

3X Performance Cores(Cortex-A77) are clocked at 2.4GHz.
4X Effeciency Cores(Cortex-A55) are clocked at 1.8GHz.
865 has the same efficiency cores as that of the 888, and it’s the same one used in the 855.
There is a huge upgrade if we look at the Prime Core, The Cortex-X1 is just much better than the Cortex-A77, and even in the Performance Cores, the Cortex-A78 is better than the A77, but with the same Efficiency cores being used for 3 consecutive years, it just disappointing to look at it.
GPU(Snapdragon 888 vs Snapdragon 865)
Snapdragon 888(Adreno 660 GPU)
Snapdragon 888 features the new Adreno 660 GPU, which as stated by Qualcomm is 35%, then the Adreno 650 GPU on Snapdragon 865, and at the same time is 20% more power-efficient.
Even though Snapdragon 865 had 144Hz Display support, but it was unable to sustain high refresh-rate gaming for a longer time.
But with the Adreno 660, performance for high refresh-rate gaming for a long time is going to get better, without the drive getting abnormally hot
Snapdragon 865(Adreno 650 GPU)
Snapdragon 865 has the Adreno 650 GPU, while it’s a good GPU, it struggles in performance for high refresh rate gaming for a long time, and as stated by Qualcomm the Adreno 660 is 35% faster than the Adreno 650, which is an amazing jump in performance.

The Advantage of Cortex-X1 over the Cortex-A77 is clear in the single-Core benchmark, with a 28% improvement in score.
Now that’s some excellent improvement in Performance.
But in Multi-Core with a 15% improvement in score, it’s not up to the mark, and the main reason for it being the 3-Year-old Cortex-A55 used in the Snapdragon 888, hopefully, they will change it in next years flagship.
Snapdragon 888(Spectra 580)
ISP has always been a strong point for Qualcomm Flagships, and With Spect 580 in Snapdragon 888, it going to get even stronger, as stated by Qualcomm it has 35% faster performance and a Triple ISP architecture.
To put that into number, it can capture 2.7 gigapixel per second with ease.
Alo due to the Triple ISP setup, it can take 28MP each from a triple camera setup, with all of them having same type of features and sensor stabalization.
Also with Spectra 580, we get the options to record 4K HDR videos from all thee three camera sensor simultaneously.
All of this is possible because of parallel processing through triple ISPs, Also due to Triple 14-bit ISP, we can now switch between primary, ultra-wide, and telephoto lens smoothly.

Snapdragon 865(Spectra 480)
Qualcomm Spectra 480 is capable of Up to 25 MP on Dual Camera

Obviously the Spectra 580 is way ahead of the Spectra 480, and the improvement in the ISP can be said to be the biggest improvement in the SoC.

The Qualcomm Hexagon 780 on Snapdragon 888, can process 26 TOPS (trillion operations per second).

Hexagon 698 can process up to 15 TOPS(trillion operations per second)

Snapdragon 888 vs Snapdragon 865: Which one is the Winner?
The Snapdragon 888, is the clear winner, which substantial improvements in Single-Threaded Performance, GPU Performance, ISP Capabilities, and AI Processor, but the improvement in Multi-Threaded improvement is not up to the mark.
It would have been excellent if there would be some improvement in efficiency cores, with Qualcomm using, something other than the Cortex-A55.
